The international community met in Brussels on April 4-5 to discuss the Syrian crisis. At the conference, ministers, international organizations and humanitarian workers discussed support for Syrians inside the country and those who have crossed the border to become refugees.
Yesterday’s horrific attack on civilians in Idlib shows the ongoing horror for people inside Syria and exposes the mirage of the nominal ‘ceasefire’. The people in Syria need more than the words of concern and condemnation we hear: there must now be an immediate impartial investigation into the attack, and the responsible parties must be held accountable. There must be an end to the long list of atrocities committed against civilians in Syria. The attack is an urgent wake-up call that shows why talk of refugees returning to Syria is at best premature and indeed downright dangerous.
Syrians and Syrian organizations provide the lion’s share of assistance inside the country, often at great risk to themselves and their families. However, they have largely been prevented from contributing meaningfully to the preparation and deliberations of the conference. The EU’s recently announced new Syria strategy recognizes the importance of an increasingly threatened Syrian civil society to the country’s future. But the EU needs to practice what it preaches, and this conference was a major missed opportunity.

Bogota, November 6, 2020. The Presidential Agency for International Cooperation (APC-Colombia), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) launched the “Multisectoral Integrated Care” project aimed at the migrant population of the Municipality of Los Patios in the department of Norte de Santander.
The director of APC-Colombia, Angela Ospina de Nicholls, highlighted that “this project seeks to benefit mainly the migrant population in the border area between Colombia and Venezuela, in a fundamental aspect such as sexual and reproductive health, of great importance because Colombia is the largest recipient country of Venezuelan population. It will also generate capacities for the post-emergency caused by the pandemic and will leave an installed capacity that will benefit the local community”.
This initiative was born from the implementation of the project “Supporting Venezuelans Through Integrated Cash Distribution and Protection Programming in Colombia” carried out by IRC and financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency – Sida. Within the framework of this umbrella project, IRC presented to APC-Colombia the project “Multisectoral Integrated Care in Colombia”, which arose as a result of the economic and social crisis in Venezuela, and the migratory phenomenon towards our country.

– Support program sector teams and the Grants Unit to ensure that M&E elements support strong proposals for new funding and high quality reporting on current programs.
– Approve and manage all time, attendance and leave requests to ensure adequate departmental coverage; ensure monthly and accurate submission of timesheets and conduct test reviews.
– Provide a measurable development plan that includes on-the-job learning with the goal of strengthening technical capacity, sharing knowledge within the team, and providing guidance on career paths.
