Where to play the Augusta Masters

Some time ago Canal+ Golf aired a conversation between Padraig Harrington and Colin Montgomery debating an interesting question: of the nine Open Championship venues that exist today, which would be the best possible course? The conversation is essentially a lively and intelligent debate between two links lovers about what a great golf hole should be, peppered with the most memorable shots in recent Open Championships history. As unloved as both golfers are, this is a great report. You can watch it here:

Let’s remember that the Open Championship is the oldest Major and is always played on a traditional links course. It is currently rotated among 9 different courses, although it seems that Royal Portrush may enter the rotation in the future. The Open venues are:

Hole 2: Royal Birkdale or Carnoustie. Both are two great holes of golf, two examples of how good links courses can be. Birkdale is a slight dogleg left that leaves a spectacular second shot to a green protected by many bunkers, and always plays into a crosswind.

The port, the Carenage, is the result of the volcanism to which the island owes its creation. Restaurants and stores cluster around the harbor. Especially when up to four cruise ships crowd the harbor and close to shore, the narrow streets are crowded with tourists. With the construction of the cruise ship dock and the large marina in Port Louis, economic activity has been refocused and stores and restaurants have moved to Melville Street and Lagoon Road.

A new stadium for about 20,000 visitors was built on the north side of town, directly on the banks of the St. John River where there used to be a racetrack, and was not completed until the turn of the millennium.

There are really no hotels or lodging options on St. George’s, aside from a few hotels such as the Tropicana Inn , which is used almost exclusively for one night as a transitional hotel for guests from Grenada’s sister island, Carriacou. Most of the hotels in Grenada are located in Grand Anse Bay, the tourist center of Grenada , which is only 3 miles south of the capital. To the north, Mango Bay Cottages , in the St. John area, is the closest possible lodging option.

When the augusta master is played

Cordoba, Jun 17 (EFE) – The golfer from Cordoba Víctor Pastor will debut this Monday in the ‘British Amateur’, which is the biggest challenge of his career to face “a week of tough competition” and in which his goal is to reach the rounds of ‘match play’, which “would already be a good result”.

The prestigious British tournament will take place from June 19 to 24 at the Royal St. George and Prince courses, located in Sandwich (county of Kent), southeast England, where at the end of the first two days (36 holes) the cut will be established among the 240 participants to remain only with the top 64.

“I would not be disappointed to compete only on Wednesday in the round of thirty-two,” said Victor Pastor, when the individual clashes begin with the players who pass the first two days of competition.

The player of the Real Club de Campo de Córdoba will play on one of the layouts of the “rotation of the ‘British'” for professionals, since, in fact, is scheduled to play at Royal St. George’s Open in 2020, after in 2011 the Northern Irishman Darren Clarke won it there. EFE
